Sleeping is not a sin. If a man sleeps
in a tent with another man, he is not accused of being homosexual. The same
holds true for a man sleeping in the proximity of a woman.
However, the sharing of a bed can lead
to the temptation of sex. In that case, the temptation should be avoided and a
man and woman should not sleep together in danger of “sleeping” together.
Also, there is the appearance of sin
that occurs when two sleep in the same bed, room, apartment or house. Others assume
they are having sex.
If the two who are only sleeping
together (innocently) are Christians, then by their actions others will leap to
the conclusion that having sex before marriage is okay.
Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God—even as I try to please everybody in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved. I Corinthians 10:32-33
While the intentions maybe good and
pure, we cannot cause others to stumble, but show them the purest, holiest way
to live.
