For the fulness of mine intent is that I may persuade men to come unto the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, and be saved. 1 Nephi 6:4
And behold, because of the thing which I have seen, I have reason to rejoice in the Lord because of Nephi and also of Sam; for I have reason to suppose that they, and also many of their seed, will be saved. 1 Nephi 8:3
Wherefore, ye need not suppose that I and my father are the only ones that have testified, and also taught them. Wherefore, if ye shall be obedient to the commandments, and endure to the end, ye shall be saved at the last day. And thus it is. Amen. 1 Nephi 22:31
"Be saved" is a phrase used in 1 Nephi (and in many other parts of the Book of Mormon) that is inconsistent with Old Testament, pre-Jesus Christ thinking. People in the Old Testament cried out to "be saved" from enemies and God's judgment.
In the New Testament, to "be saved" meant to receive eternal salvation from Jesus Christ and "be saved" from eternal separation from God.
Matthew 10:22 All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
Matthew 19:25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”
Mark 13:13 All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
Mark 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Luke 8:12 Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.
Luke 13:23 Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?” He said to them,
John 5:34 Not that I accept human testimony; but I mention it that you may be saved.
John 10:9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture.
Acts 2:21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’
Acts 2:47 ...praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”
Acts 11:14 He will bring you a message through which you and all your household will be saved.’
Nephi appeared to be using New Testament terminology in an Old Testament time period. This is inconsistent.
