You were taught, with regard
to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted
by its deceitful desires; to be made
new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the
new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians
4:22-24
On your wedding
day, you go from single to married. Legally
and relationally your relationship changes with your spouse. However, now your mind has to change with
that fact as you begin to incorporate your spouse into your life.
When you get saved,
you go from old self to new self. You
now have the Holy Spirit in your life and a new relationship (permanent) with
God. Now your mind has to accept that
and live like that. Putting off your old
self means making choices that God wants you to choose and rejecting the
choices your old way of life demanded.
