Finally, be strong in the
Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand
against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not
against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,
against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil
in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor
of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your
ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Ephesians 6:10-13
Putting on the armor is not a
literally statement but a spiritual one.
To put on the armor would mean to surround yourself through prayer and
Bible encouragement. To focus your mind
and heart on God’s power and His working in the world around you.
The battle, as these verses
indicate, is not physical, but a battle of dark spiritual forces. Physical armor would do no good because
spiritual enemies creep into our mind, heart and spirit and throw us off
through doubt, fear and misconception.
The armor must be full and complete, surrounding every part of your body
so you can move into enemy territory confident of God’s protection.
