That day
David first appointed Asaph and his associates to give praise to the Lord in this manner: 1 Chronicles 16:7
Asaph
was an associate of Heman who worked as a musician in David’s worship band.
Asaph’s
job was to bring praise to God (like a worship leader) and play an instrument
but also he wrote praise songs. In the
book of Psalms, Asaph is credited with Psalms 73 through 83. Heman also is credited with one Psalm, 88.
David
felt this position of musical director, instrument player and song writer was
important enough to appoint a team to lead this and always direct the hearts of
the people toward God. Imagine today, a
President creating a cabinet position of Worship Leader.
