“I the Lord search the heart
and
examine the mind,
to reward each person according to their conduct,
according to what their deeds deserve.” Jeremiah 17:10

No,
we don’t get what we deserve. We deserve
death for our sins. If that were the
case, we would barely make it passed the age of two or three.
It’s
called grace. God withholds punishment
because He knows the future. God also
applies our deserved punishment to Jesus’ death on the cross. His suffering takes the place of my
suffering.
God
rewards us all the time by giving us life, sustaining us, protecting us. His rewards are daily if you only look for
them.
However,
there are times when we need correction, discipline, and God allows the
consequences to play out in our life. At
that time, we get a small inkling of what we deserve. Praise the Lord for not fully giving us what we
deserve.
