BUT,
getting drunk is a big problem, especially for those in key leadership
positions. In 1 Timothy 3, the
qualifications of a pastor/overseer and deacon specifically say they cannot be
addicted to much wine.
Some
churches today say the leadership can have NO wine and that’s fine. If someone posts pictures of themselves
holding up red cups and toasting all the time, don’t you wonder what’s in that
cup? Many see that and feel it gives
them permission to drink more.
There are
definitely medicinal benefits to grapes, vinegar and wine that scientists have
proven, but there are also destructive habits that stem from alcohol
consumption.
