By no
means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t
you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into
his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism
into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the
glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. Romans 6:2-4
Baptism
symbolizes a number of things, one of them is unity and allegiance. The choice of public baptism is to say to
everyone “I’m all in,” or “I want to be fully immersed in the Christian
life.” It’s declaring that you want to
live like Christ and that you want to join others (his church) to help live
that life.
Baptism
is saying you have decided to be united with Christ and you are giving your
allegiance to him. It’s a public
declaration of what you have done privately.
