“‘If the offering is a burnt offering from the herd, you are to
offer a male without defect. You must present it at the entrance to the tent of
meeting so that it will be acceptable to the Lord.” Leviticus 1:3
“If the offering is a burnt offering from the flock, from either
the sheep or the goats, you are to offer a male without defect.” Leviticus 1:10
God asked for a male sacrifice that
wasn’t born with half a foot or with one eye.
People wanted to get rid of the defective animals because they wouldn’t
breed those. God wanted the best from
his people because he deserves the best.
The male without defect also pointed
to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus, God who came as a man and lived without
sin. He fulfilled that qualification on
the cross of a male without defect.
