And I saw a mighty angel
proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the
scroll?” But no one
in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look
inside it. I wept and
wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside.
Revelation 5:2-4
When a seal was placed on a letter, it could only be
opened by the recipient who that letter was intended for, usually a high
government official like a king. It was
early cyber-security, a firewall to keep the wrong people out. To open a sealed scroll not intended for you
was punishable. Mail fraud!
This scroll had important information inside intended for
someone of high authority—Jesus. Only he
could open it because he sacrificed himself for the ones who needed to hear the
information contained inside.
