“Come now, let us settle the matter,”
says
the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool. Isaiah 1:18
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool. Isaiah 1:18
This
beautiful imagery was used to show how clean and pure we are, like freshly
fallen snow, after our sins are forgiven.
Our sins are scarlet and crimson, the color of blood. Sin equals death. The spilling of blood causes death, just like
sin. The sacrifices used in the temple needed
to bleed to pay for that sin. Jesus
eventually came to bleed (scarlet red) so we could be forgiven (pure and white
like snow).
