What I mean is this: One of
you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow
Cephas”; still another, “I follow Christ.” 1 Corinthians 1:12
It’s
okay to listen to a pastor or speaker and enjoy their insights. However, to declare allegiance to a pastor,
accepting only their truth, is dangerous.
Truth is never sequestered to one individual. It’s available to many. Some speakers may be charismatic, enjoyable
and creative with their approach but they aren’t the only ones who can deliver
the Gospel message.
Be
careful how you follow a Christian pastor or speaker. Thank God that God gave them such gifts. But don’t treat them like they are the only
communicator of truth. That can border
on cultish.
