So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 1 Corinthians 15:42-44
I declare to you, brothers and
sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the
perishable inherit the imperishable. 1 Corinthians 15:50
We will
receive an imperishable body, one that can’t perish or die. It won’t be like our flesh and body, but more
like Adam’s body before he sinned and his DNA fell apart. It will be exactly like Jesus’ body which had
some interesting qualities (Jesus passed through doors, traveled from place to
place). It didn’t seem to be encumbered
by space and matter. Whether that’s for
us, we’ll find out.
Jesus was
recognizable so his looks and demeanor followed his earthly identity. It will be us and we will know each
other. Our resurrected bodies won’t be
weak, won’t wear out, built to survive throughout time.
