“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8
These
verses tend to get misunderstood because of our selfishness. We want to hold God accountable for what we
ask, saying “You said you would give me what I ask for.” Is that true?
If
we are truly saved and we truly know who God is, why would we ever demand him
to do what we want him to do? The model
prayer in Matthew 6 says very clearly, “Your kingdom come, your will be
done.” If we pray asking for God’s will,
not demanding our will, God will answer.
If you seek God’s will, you will find it. If you knock on the door of opportunity God
provided, it will open.
