“When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.” Matthew 12:43-45
God gave this example of impure
spirits (demons) who exit out of someone then try to find another place
(body/mind) to invade and settle inside.
Jesus cautioned those who used to have a demon to fill their mind with
God’s holiness and not leave it empty or else the demon will come back with his
friends and have a part.
The
example Jesus gave was also meant to describe this evil generation he faced
which kicked God out of their culture but didn’t replace God with anything
better, so demons came back into the culture and brought their friends.
Demons
are always looking for a home to invade and cause chaos, whether in an
individual or in a cultural mindset.
