In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” Luke 1:26-28
There is no
indication that Mary sinned or didn’t sin.
In the Gospels she’s given very positive treatment. It’s impossible with her human nature that
Mary could ever avoid sinning. Only the
child born inside her could do that because he came from God and man. Mary came from two human natures. She had some excellent qualities which God
found favorable and her virginity was kept intact. Mary even fully surrendered to do God’s will,
another plus. However, she could not be
perfect, but she was one of the best God could find.
