One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret… Luke 5:1

            The Lake of Gennesaret was the Sea of Galilee.  It was another name for this body of water derived from a city on the northwestern shore known in the Old Testament as Kinneret (Deuteronomy 3:17, Joshua 11:2, 19:35, 1 Kings 15:20) found in the region belonging to the tribe of Gad.  Translations have altered the name to Kinnereth, Chinnereth, Chinneroth, and Ginosar.  Remains of this city have been found.
