“Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you: The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men.” But they did not understand what this meant. It was hidden from them, so that they did not grasp it, and they were afraid to ask him about it. Luke 9:44-45

            The apostles had dreams of power and glory when Jesus’ kingdom would come to the earth.  They saw progress in their lives through Jesus.  So for Jesus to speak about dying and death, leaving them on their own, they couldn’t comprehend it, not until Jesus rose from the dead.  Then they saw his death as the key to true power through God’s kingdom, not their own.
