One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” Luke 11:1
When it comes to teaching someone how to pray, most times
people just need to know what to do and how to say it. Jesus taught his followers how to pray by
going over the model prayer (known as the “Our Father who is in heaven”
prayer). Jesus went through a guide on
what to ask for and how to address God as you pray.
He went on to teach them that you don’t ever bother God
with your prayers (Luke 11:5-8) so feel free to address him as much as you
want. Jesus also emphasized a more
casual tone with God as if talking to your dad and the importance of asking in
order to receive.
