Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth. See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.” Jeremiah 1:9-10
God
calls us to do good things, but sometimes those good things mean saying and
doing negative and hurtful things.
For
Jeremiah, he was called to give the bad news to the people of Israel, telling
them that their sins were causing the destruction of Jerusalem. It’s like a doctor who must give the bad news
of a diagnosis in order to seek the treatment.
The bad news leads to a good thing.
So
while the response to our role may be negative/hurtful/painful, it will always
have a positive result if God is behind it.
